Research & Education

From Framework curatorial workshop at Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow

Whether used as a tool for developing projects or for contributing to the discourse of professional development of curators and artists, research and education work forms a large part of my curatorial practice.

As an educator, I work for organisations such as the Berlin based NODE Center for Curatorial Studies  and Picture Berlin where I teach professional development skills to curators and artists. At the Piet Zwart Institute’s Masters Education In Arts in the Netherlands I teach a seminar programme called Making Things Public, that explores the public dimension of art education outside the institutional environment of the school or academy and discusses the latest developments in this field.

As a researcher, I’ve previously conducted research for organisations such as the (now dismantled) Visual Arts and Galleries Association into International Working And Curators in Scotland, and independently for my own investigation into Contemporary Art Biennales as part of the Independent Curators International‘s Istanbul Curatorial Intensive Program. From 2015-2019 I was a Doctoral Fellow at The Center for Metropolitan Studies at Berlin’s Technical University where I explored the relationship between The Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art and its Relationship with Urban Space.
