Edinburgh | 2009 – 2012
I curated the Macmillan Cancer Support Edinburgh annual fundraising exhibition from 2009 – 2012, helping to develop it into a reputable high quality charity event. Initially this was an incredibly challenging role as we started with a much smaller committee and had a month to create the 2009 exhibition. We raised a profit of £18000 and in the following year we raised £24000. The exhibition committee consists of people from a variety of backgrounds outside the art sector with limited experience in managing arts projects. Forming in 2009, together we navigated many challenges and responded to the uncertainty of developing the event during the economic recession. My role was both advisory and practical and included developing marketing strategies, improving communication between the artists and the organization, and assessing and responding to the target audience. I lead training and management of a team of temporary volunteers during the installation and de-installation period of the exhibition, identifying skills and delegating tasks.
